What is ADD and ADHD?
ADD or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental disorder. ADD is a term that was historically used to describe a condition characterized by difficulties in maintaining attention, staying organized, and completing tasks. However, in the current diagnostic field, the term "ADD" has been replaced by the more comprehensive term ADHD.
ADHD symptoms in Kids
Key symptoms of ADHD include problems focusing, retaining attention, hyperactivity, inattentiveness, and impulse control. Kids with ADHD may show symptoms such as inability to stay on task, constant fidgeting, trouble sitting still often interrupting others, jumping and running when they shouldn’t. The symptoms can be mild to severe enough to impact their home and school life.
ADHD symptoms in women
ADHD has long been studied and recognized in children, particularly in boys. However, research and awareness for ADHD in women has been limited. Many girls and women exhibit predominantly inattentive symptoms rather than hyperactivity, leading to underdiagnosis of ADHD.
Women with ADHD may develop highly effective coping mechanisms that mask their symptoms. They might work harder and aim for perfection. ADHD can affect emotional regulation, but women may internalize their struggles leading to intense self-criticism, anxiety, and low self-esteem, which can lead to depressive symptoms. Hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle and menopause can exacerbate ADHD symptoms in women.
ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder
It is not uncommon for individuals to have comorbid conditions. For example, a person can have both ADHD and autism, which can make diagnosis and treatment more complex.
Both ADHD and autism can affect executive functions, which include skills like planning, organization, and working memory. These difficulties may lead to problems with time management, completing tasks, and organization.
According to the Pranic Healing system, every living entity has not one but two bodies - 1. visible physical body and 2. invisible body made of light.
The traditional medical system deals with the visible body. The Pranic healing system, just like acupuncture, tai chi and chi gong; deals with the invisible body or the energy body. In simplistic terms, this energy body consists of auras, chakras (energy centers) and meridians (energy pathways). This light or energy is called prana, chi, ki or ruah in different languages.
When our energy body and energy centers or chakras are filled with good energy and are balanced, we are healthy. But the presence of disease energy in the auras and chakras creates imbalances leading to both physical and psychological health issues.
Pranic Healing, a “no-touch” energy healing system, restores the health by manipulating and harmonizing pranic energy in auras and chakras to accelerate the body's own natural ability to heal itself to restore health and vitality. It has also been described as ‘acupuncture without needles’.
Pranic Healing has been found effective in healing stress, anxiety, depression (1), enhancing cognitive functioning (2), insomnia (3) and more. If you are new to Pranic Healing, please read ‘What is Pranic Healing’.
In the case of ADHD, the upper chakras, Crown chakra, Forehead chakra, Ajna Chakra and Throat Chakra don’t have sufficient healthy prana. Since the brain and nervous system are controlled by Crown and Forehead chakras, any lack of life energy in these chakras will affect the functioning of these organs. Moreover, Ajna and throat chakras are responsible for abstract and logical thinking respectively. So, lack of good energy in these chakras will further affect executive functioning.
Why is there a lack of prana in upper chakras in case of ADHD?
Prana is not static. It is constantly flowing up and down through major energy pathways to distribute the energy among chakras. But in the case of ADHD, prana in lower chakras - Basic, Sex and Navel; gets stuck and does not flow upwards to feed the upper chakras.
In addition, the quality of prana in the chakras is poor. Since chakras manage both physiological and psychological functions, any presence of disease energy in chakras can manifest as both physical and emotional issues. For example, dirty energy in Solar Plexus chakra can lead to digestive issues as well as stress.
It is no surprise that a large percentage of children and adults with ADHD also have additional physiological issues such as insomnia, constipation and psychological issues such as anxiety and depression.
Why do we need Pranic Healing as a natural option to overcome ADHD?
Treatment for ADHD usually includes both medication and therapy. Therapies such cognitive behavior therapy and Applied behavior analysis are offered. The most commonly prescribed medications are stimulants e.g. Ritalin and Adderall and non-stimulants such as Strattera and Intuniv. Even though 70-80% of children with ADHD have fewer symptoms when taking these medications, there are still several challenges. (4)
First, children younger than 6 are usually not advised to be given medication as side effects are stronger. (4)
Second, more than half of children suffering from ADHD also have another mental, emotional or behavioral disorder (5) that may require additional help.
Third, if children have both ADHD and Autism, stimulant medications seem less effective and cause more side effects, including social withdrawal, irritability and self-injury, than when they are used to treat ADHD alone. (6)
Fourth, even though the medications need to be taken for years, the long-term effects of ADHD medications on young children have not been well-studied (4). They are also associated with certain side effects such as sleep disturbance, loss of appetite, and growth suppression (7)
Fifth, despite treatment, ADHD does not go away as children grow up. For example, ADHD persists into adulthood in 29.3% of childhood ADHD cases (8). Adults with identified childhood ADHD have a 56.9% chance to have more than one psychiatric disorder other than ADHD (8).
It is no wonder that the use of complementary and alternative solutions such as nutrition, supplements, art therapy, exercise, yoga, meditation, acupuncture and computer training programs for a more holistic approach is growing. These approaches are designed to enhance the overall wellbeing. Simply using these approaches tends to bring a gradual shift.
But despite the combination of traditional medical care, therapy and complementary approaches, healing of ADHD has a long way to go. Many adults that grow up with this condition have challenges getting a college education, perform well at their jobs, have mental health issues and have poorer quality of life. Diagnosis of ADHD and its aftermath creates a lot of stress and frustration in the family, sometimes even leading to depression and divorce.
Parents, teachers and therapists are constantly searching for new and innovative ideas to help children and adults suffering from ADHD. A fresh approach to help children and adults with ADHD is vitally needed. Pranic Healing offers a much more targeted complementary medicine approach to support ADHD. It not only has well-documented and thorough healing protocols tailored for ADHD illness and associated symptoms but also offers tools that the entire family can use to shore up the strength to deal with ADHD repercussions.
Pranic Healing is used in combination with standard medical care for optimal benefit.
How does Pranic Healing provide natural ADHD relief?
The Pranic Healing solution for ADHD is very thorough. The healing strategy can be divided into four distinct components.
Advanced Pranic Healing for ADHD: First, using advanced Pranic Healing techniques, the major energy centers or chakras, especially the ones responsible for proper brain functioning are thoroughly healed to improve the overall quality and quantity of prana flowing in the brain. Further healing is done for physiological conditions such as insomnia and gastrointestinal ailments.
Pranic Emotional Healing for symptoms and comorbidity: Second, appropriate Pranic Healing techniques are used to flush out energies of comorbid psychological conditions such as anger, anxiety or depression from chakras.
A recent study documents the case of healing insomnia using Pranic Healing (3).
In a double-blind study, 69.2% of depression patients’ condition improved with antidepressant medication and mock Pranic Healing while 100% of the depression patients’ condition improved with antidepressant medication and Pranic Healing for 4 weeks (1).
A study done on the wellbeing of incarcerated individuals showed remarkable improvement in physical and emotional well-being and insomnia after receiving Pranic Healing for just one week (9).
Re-establishment of upward flow of prana: Third, the flow of energy from lower to upper chakras to feed the brain is facilitated. Establishing this flow is a critical piece for people impacted by neurodevelopmental diseases such as ADHD and Autism. Proper energy flow ensures that brain and nervous system chakras are constantly fed with energy and stay healthy. In Pranic Healing, there are two methods of facilitating this flow.
One option is to employ Pranic Healing flow facilitation technique during healing each session. It is done by the Pranic Healing practitioner.
Second option is to practice Superbrain Yoga, a special yogic exercise re-engineered by Master Choa Kok Sui to facilitate the flow of energy from lower to upper chakras, by the child or adult diagnosed with ADHD. More about it will be explained in this article.
Enhancing Serotonin and cognitive functioning: Highly specialized meditative techniques are employed to further supplement the healing process.
A pilot study on meditation has shown a 300% increase in Serotonin, a neurotransmitter after doing the meditation. Also, research has shown both immediate and long-term improvement in cognitive functioning (2).
The meditation technique was also validated in a study where 83.5% participants felt happy and enthusiastic after one month of meditation practice.

How does Superbrain Yoga’s prana flow facilitation help to heal ADHD naturally?
Our body and brain have very sophisticated energetic circuits. By making the right connections, we can literally rewire our brain. The key is to know the right technology.
The technology of brain boost was known to yogis in ancient India thousands of years ago. But this knowledge has been lost over time. Master Choa Kok Sui reviewed and reformulated it to make it more potent to help children with neurodevelopmental diseases.
Superbrain Yoga is easy to learn and takes less than 2 minutes to do. It is easy enough to be done by people of all ages and abilities.
Benefits of the daily practice of Superbrain yoga have been studied in several pilot studies.
Brain wave studies
Brain waves mapping studies were conducted using EEG to observe Superbrain yoga’s impact on brain activity.
In one study, brain waves were compared between a 16 year old female with no prior experience to another female who had done the practice for one year. For the regular practitioner, a uniform increase of alpha waves was observed throughout the brain. Also, regular and coordinated brain wave activities were observed in both the right and left hemisphere. For the non-practitioner, brain activity was un-coordinated and random in nature.
In the second study, the brain wave patterns were measured before and after performing Superbrain yoga for the first time by the subject. Significant increase in the brain wave activity especially the alpha wave activity was observed. Also, the brain waves between the right and left brain had improved coordination.
Why is the overall increase in brain wave activity important?
Research has shown that slow brain waves are seen in some conditions such as sleep, coma, brain death, depression, autism, brain tumors, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (10).
Why are alpha waves important?
Alpha waves denote a state of quiet and resting alertness. An increase in alpha waves helps relieve anxiety, improves the immune system and puts the brain in the state of high creativity.
Why is brain synchronization important?
When the right and left hemispheres are equally active and have the same wave pattern, it is called brain synchronization, a prerequisite for optimizing brain function.
Significant patterns of hemispheric asymmetry have been reported, involving EEG bands that specifically underlie cognitive impairments in ADHD (11).
Public school pilot studies
To further test the efficacy of Superbrain Yoga, pilot studies were undertaken at several public schools.
Cedar Grove School district, New Jersey
The pilot study was done on 3 groups, first ages 6-8, second ages 7-9 and third ages 5-8. Children had a variety of disabilities including neurological defects, autism, learning delays, ADHD, psychotic depressive disorder, anxiety and seizures. Superbrain Yoga was performed 5 times a week.
Research findings show that children
Are more focused and ready to work.
Display less negative behavior.
Can follow multi-step directions.
Display increased social skills.
Memory and retention of new information has improved.
Middle School at Norristown School District, Norristown, PA
Pilot studies were done for 3 academic years to evaluate Superbrain Yoga in middle school classrooms. Studies were done in classrooms with teenage students with behavior issues (56 students) as well as classrooms of students with issues such as depression, ADD, ADHD and compulsive disorder (28 students). Standardized test scores data showed academic improvement from 21-25% each year after doing Superbrain Yoga twice a week for 8 months. Other changes observed by classroom teachers were dissipation of stress and fear, more high order thinking among students and gain in social and emotional skills.
Case studies in therapy setting
Case studies were done to document the impact of Superbrain Yoga in the occupational therapy setting.
Case study 1 - MT, an autistic 6 year old boy with behavior of biting, hitting, screaming and crashing into people and objects and unable to sleep through the night. With 3 weeks of daily Superbrain yoga practice, he started sleeping better and after one year of regular practice he would sleep through the night. He is able to show love with kisses and hugs for his family and able to sit for 45 minutes with little or no self-stimulating behavior.
Case study 2 - RT, a 7 year old boy was diagnosed with ADHD and pervasive development disorder with symptoms of running, jumping. Spinning. He was in a special ed classroom. With regular Superbrain yoga practice, his symptoms gradually improved and after one year of Superbrain yoga practice, he was mainstreamed into a regular education classroom.
Case study 3 - BC, a 7 year old boy was diagnosed with ADD and traumatic brain injury. He was struggling with perception, memory, learning and acting out frequently. For three years, he had been trying to learn letters, colors and shapes but could only recognize 4 letters. After one year of Superbrain Yoga, he knows all his letters, colors and shapes and has improved self-esteem and behavior.
Personal stories shared by family members
The impact of Superbrain Yoga on children with neurodevelopmental issues was covered by CBS2 News.
Pranic Healing case study for ADHD
At Joy of Pranic Healing, we can share the case of a male undergraduate college student. His ADHD symptoms had aggravated to such a level that he left his college in the middle of the semester and had to be brought back home. He had trouble maintaining focus and felt very tired all the time. He also had trouble having a good night's sleep.
Pranic Healing therapy was applied to him for about 1.5 months. Both Superbrain Yoga and meditation was also taught to him to do daily on his own. In the end, all his symptoms were in remission and he was well enough to go back to college and continue his education.
How does Pranic Healing support the family?
Parents of children with ADHD can also practice Superbrain Yoga and meditation to recharge their emotional, mental and physical batteries and relieve stress to enhance the quality of family life. Parents are also advised to learn Pranic Healing. Pranic healing is easy to learn and practice, giving families confidence in managing their child’s and personal well-being.

How to receive Pranic Healing help to heal ADHD?
Pranic Healing help can be availed in several formats. Here, we are describing a staged strategy that we recommend at The Joy of Pranic Healing.
Stage 1 - Seek professional help
For ADHD healing, we recommend seeking help from a certified Pranic Healing practitioner. An experienced Pranic Healing practitioner would design a highly targeted healing protocol tailored to the disease and the symptom profile of the person that needs healing. Healings are performed using this healing protocol over a period of time till the person starts to feel better or is considered in remission by a medical professional.
Stage 2 - Receive guided self-care
As the healing sessions progress and the recipient starts to feel better, the Pranic Healing practitioner will also develop a custom plan to do Superbrain Yoga and potent meditation and specially designed to increase Serotonin levels and improve the quality of brainwaves to provide brain boost. The healing recipient can do them on her own on a daily basis.
By combining one-on-one healing sessions from a certified Pranic Healer with daily practice of self-care, most people are able to feel better at an even faster rate.
Stage 3 - I can heal myself
In the case of adult ADHD, once the healing recipient’s symptoms are in remission, our recommendation for the healing recipient is to learn Pranic Healing. Pranic Healing is easy to learn and practice. It takes only 16 hours to learn the basics in Level 1 Pranic Healing training.
These training sessions provide a toolset of easy-to-practice yet powerful energetic tools to do regular self-healing. Anytime the symptoms of ADHD start to creep in, the person can heal their chakras by using their palms for a fast relief. Learning Pranic Healing is the best gift you can give to yourself.
In the case of children diagnosed with ADHD, it is recommended that parents learn Pranic Healing so that they can continue healing their child once the symptoms have minimized with the help of professional Pranic healing care.
Practicing the regular self-care techniques combined with self-healing regularly makes the energy body strong, building an immunity against future ADHD flare ups and psychological intrusions.
With the right help, it is possible to go beyond simply coping with ADHD to thriving.
Benefits of using Pranic Healing as a natural healing solution for ADHD
As a complementary medicine, receiving Pranic Healing care has many benefits.
Safe: Pranic Healing is a no-touch energy healing modality. Pranic Healing does not interfere with regular treatment whether it is psychotherapy or pharmaceutical approach. It also does not require the recipient to take any herbs or supplements. It does not have any side effects.
